GCC provides projectors and audio systems available in all instructional spaces. In addition, AV services, including recording and streaming service, is available in the Dining Commons and Stinchfield lecture hall.

TLIC staff are responsible for providing individuals to assist in the operation of that equipment for special events on campus and also to support faculty and other users of AV equipment in classrooms and conference rooms.

    Meet GCC's AV team:

    • Using the Television & Meeting Owl in C208:

      • If using the television as a display during your call

        • Turn the television on via the Samsung remote, typically found at C208’s computer station

        • Log into your GCC profile on C208’s computer; you should see a Windows desktop appear on the television screen

          • Troubleshooting tip: If the desktop does not appear, the television might have been left on a different input source. Press the ‘Home’ key on the Samsung remote, and scroll to the left until you find the ‘Sources’ section. C208’s computer should be permanently plugged into source HDMI 1

        • If using a personal laptop, connect to the TV using the spare HDMI cable, which is generally left plugged into source HDMI 2 on the television

          • Troubleshooting tip: If the desktop does not appear, the television might have been left on a different input source. Press the ‘Home’ key on the Samsung remote, and scroll to the left until you find the ‘Sources’ section. External computers used in C208 should be permanently plugged into source HDMI 2

      • Connecting the Meeting Owl

        • A Meeting Owl is an all-in-one A/V solution for video conferencing, combining a high-definition panoramic webcam, a 360-degree echo-canceling microphone, and 360-degree high-fidelity speakers in a low-profile package that makes setting up a video conference a breeze

        • You’ll find them ‘hanging around’ in a number of rooms on GCC’s campus, including C208, C216, S312, and more

        • If using C208’s desktop computer, the Meeting Owl should already be plugged into the front panel of the machine via a blue SS (‘Super Speed’) USB 3.0 port

          • Start your call on your preferred platform (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.)

          • Find your software’s Audio & Video settings, and select ‘Echo Canceling Speaker Phone (Meeting Owl Pro)’ as your camera, audio input (microphone), and audio output (speakers)

        • If using a personal laptop, you’ll need to unplug the Meeting Owl’s USB cable from the front panel of the C208 desktop computer, and plug it into a USB 3.0 Type-A port on your laptop

          • If your computer only has USB-C ports, you will need a USB hub or a USB-C-to-A converter to use the Meeting Owl. The TLIC occasionally has some in stock, but if you plan to use a personal laptop in C208 regularly it is worth investing in your own, trusted converter

          • Follow the steps above for selecting the Meeting Owl as your computer’s audio input, audio output, and video source

    • As we return to campus, we hope to be clarifying what is in the various teaching spaces at GCC and how how faculty should operate them.
