Topic outline

  • Moodle Resources for Faculty

    • Moodle is GCC's learning management system. Each section of each course has its own Moodle classroom, how the instructor uses it is up to their preferences.

    • Primarily for faculty

    • Instructors can maintain a gradebook in Moodle. Yes, it can be difficult to use, but so are all other online gradebooks :)

    • Quizzes are collections of questions presented to students. When a quiz is added to a Moodle classroom, it is automatically added to the grade book and some questions may be graded automatically by Moodle.

Creating quizzes in Moodle is really a multi-step process. First, faculty create question categories in the question bank. Second, faculty add questions to the question bank. Third, faculty create quizzes and add questions.

    • With assignments, we create drop boxes or online text files for instructors to have students submit work.

    • Forums are the most common method of facilitating student interaction in Moodle.
