Redlining Assignment, Due Sunday 3/30 at midnight
Description: The Great Depression led to federal intervention at the ground level. Under President FRD, the government implemented the New Deal, which was a series of federal programs focused on providing individuals with jobs; building the country's infrastructure; and creating social programs to help support and provide financial assistance for different groups. One such program was the federal government's Homeowners' Loan Corporation, thousands of people gained access to federally backed, low-interest rate home loans. However, these opportunities were restricted to only certain neighborhoods. Assessors evaluated each city based upon specific characteristics and identified neighborhoods that were considered "Best", "Still Desirable", "Definitely Declining", and "Hazardous". Those neighborhoods in declining and hazardous areas were not offered the same home loan opportunities. For this assignment, you will analyze the data provided regarding the demographics of these different neighborhoods.
