Hi Cameron,
The 1920's was a big turning point for the U.S after WW1. It was a shame to read how Billie Holiday was treated and all she dealt with from the government on top of her difficult upbringing and trauma. Harry Anslinger was openly racist and encouraged discrimination. It is a shame how he was only focused on giving his team work and its an even bigger shame that Billie Holiday was used a target for this. It made me very sad learning this. Between Billie Holiday and Buck v Bell it seems women, African Americans and marginalized communities were being targeted and used as guinea pigs for the government. Although we had a lot of progress in this decade before the great depression, there was still lots of people being exploited and unfairly treated.
