I agree with you when you say "The New Deal aimed to help marginalized and racialized Americans join society and promote racial justice and gender equality. It focused on eight groups: older adults, women, people with disabilities, Jewish refugees, and four main racial groups: African Americans, Hispanic/Latino Americans, Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans." These were the groups that were historically mistreated. Due to racism and injustice these groups were not treated like white men for example. The New Deal did not fix all these injustices but it became one step closer to helping these groups. I especially loved reading about how FDR hired many of these groups in government positions to help create change for all people not just some.

The Great Depression and the Dust Bowl were also devastating to the United States. Today there are many similarities that scare me. The price of things are so expensive, so many uncertain changes are occurring in government, and unemployment seems to be increasing. As a father of three and with one on the way; it is getting increasingly more difficult for my wife and I to afford our lifestyle and needs. I have seen changes in my own job; and my wife as a teacher is very skeptical about some of the changes that will occur in schools next year. We are hoping for the best but all these things create anxiety and uncertainty in many people.
