The mistreatment of the Japanese Americans and the ongoing racial injustice of our black soldiers is always very disturbing to read about, as it is a sad reminder of a time in history where our nation acted poorly due to fear. At times, I wonder how many people have learned from our history as I feel like history repeated itself after 911 with some groups as well when flying on planes. I think if people fear something or see someone that is different we still have many prejudices and injustices that occur because of people's fears in our nation because of terrorism or other violent attacks on our nation.
It was great to learn more about Rosie the Riveter and show my daughter some of the new information I was learning. I always saw the posters but it was great to learn more about the history of Rosie. Additionally, I think the shift in the workforce and how we shifted for production for war really brought us out of the Great Depression and the awful unemployment numbers. This was a big step for woman in the workforce too in my opinion and shifted our nation's course.
Thanks for sharing.
