Thank you for sharing. These power movements definitely focused on people's identities. Who they were was important to them even if the subgroup they were part of was not a group that was treated fairly at that time. These groups were fighting against discrimination and inequality. Several groups such as African Americans, Native Americans, woman, LGBT, and the disabled fell within some of these groups that were mistreated. The fact that they were denied things such as jobs, education, and other opportunities was an extremely sad time in our history. I think personally we have a long road ahead of us to create equality; however, if it was not for these power movements I think many of us would suffer this same type of discrimination today. These power movements used effective and more direct strategies to make a statement to fight for change.
