Students can connect to Zoom meetings (through links in Moodle, email, or other source) without creating an account on Zoom. There are some situations in which a Zoom account is necessary:

  • In order to host (start) a Zoom meeting, one must have a Zoom account;
  • Students can create free accounts at Zoom.us or they can have an account created on GCC's lit of users by submitting a help ticket;
  • Some faculty have begun pre-assigning students to break-out rooms, this requires students have accounts;
  • If a student has created a Zoom account using their GCC student email address, then they ask to be included in GCC's list of users,  they may lose recordings and scheduled meetings.
