The Moodle Year
In January, users receive a reminder that courses older than 7 years will be purged at the school year.
During the spring semester, faculty have the opportunity to attend "save your courses" workshops that will take them through the steps of creating their own course archives.
Around the first week in June, Moodle administrators run the "Course archiver" tool to zip files older than 7 years and remove them from the database. The files are kept for one year in the event courses need to be recovered. After that year, they are deleted permanently.
At the end of July, the Applications Team and the TLIC collaborate to upgrade the Moodle application. At the same time, new plugins are installed and other changes are made to the configuration. The takes Moodle out of service for approximately 12 hours.
During the school year, TLIC and the Applications Team reviews release notes from Moodle, and may announcement updates to install updates that provide security improvements.
