Moodle Purge 2026

In 2026, GCC will be removing old courses from Moodle. This is an annual event to ensure we comply with GCC policy. In June 2026, we will remove course from Moodle course taught in:

• Spring 2019
• Fall 2018
• Summer (I & II) 2018

The courses will be archived after the purge, but retrieved courses from the archive will require several days.

Your can also create your own backups with these directions:

1. Log on to your course.
2. In the "More..." menu, click "Course reuse"
3. In the "Import" menu, click "Backup"
4. On the "Backup settings" page, accept the defaults (if you want to save student work, check the appropriate boxes--contact Gary Ackerman for details)
5. Click through the steps of the wizard
6. When the backup is done, click the "Download" link
7. Save the file to your computer.

The .mbz file can be uploaded to any Moodle installation. Use this to transfer your courses to other schools or to keep a copy of your courses for future use.
