When Should I Meet with My Advisor? How Often Should We Meet?

We recommend you connect with your advisor at least 3 times in each semester (though your advisor may reach out to you more often!)   

It is really important that you read any email from your advisor!  We know you get a lot of email, but your advisor will reach out with critical information that is important to read.  Respond to outreach and let us know when you need help!  

Before the semester starts, your advisor will help you build a schedule and plan ahead.  They'll help you understand the academic calendar, locate your books, and log into your account.  

During the semester, your advisor will check in to see how things are going.  If there are any concerns from faculty about your coursework, advisors will reach out to help connect you with support and determine your next steps. 

Towards the end of the semester, your advisor will offer motivation and guidance to stay on track.  They can help you review your grades and understand your GPA.  They can help you assess the successes and challenges from the semester, and look ahead to the next semester.
