Steps to complete BEFORE meeting with an Advisor/Success Coach:

unchecked  Apply and confirm acceptance from Admissions

unchecked Complete any admissions checklist items in your Application Portal, such as placement testing or submitting transcripts

unchecked  Complete the FAFSA *required if you want to receive Free Community College or any other financial aid

unchecked  Set up your Student Account login for GCC systems (myGCC, student email, Navigate 360, Moodle, DegreeWorks).  Contact Admissions if you need assistance -  admission@gcc.mass.edu  or (413) 775-1801

unchecked  Review the information about your degree or certificate program on our website including the number of credits, career outcomes, and academic program

unchecked Think about how much time you have available in your week for school.  Consider the number of hours you work, if you have a commute, and any other responsibilities you have (such as caregiving)

unchecked  Look through the class schedule for the upcoming semester

unchecked  Attend Advising Drop In hours or contact the Advising Center to make an appointment -  advising@gcc.mass.edu (413) 775-1339 or visit the AAC in Core 118. 

unchecked Put your appointment or drop in time in a calendar and set a reminder so that you do not miss your appointment 


Next steps AFTER you are registered for classes:

unchecked  Pay close attention to the dates and deadlines for this Academic Year in the Academic Calendar

unchecked  Log into myGCC, your student email and Navigate 360 using your GCC login credentials and review your schedule and appointment follow up email.

unchecked Complete the outstanding requirements listed in the My financial aid tab in MyGCC.  THIS page has instructions on how to find this information in myGCC. For questions, contact Student Financial Services at sfs@gcc.mass.edu, call 413-775-1109, or stop in C102. 

unchecked  Keep an eye on your email to register for Orientation and visit the Orientation Webpage

unchecked  Find your books in MyGCC: click the Class Schedule link on the left menu, and then the blue Purchase Books at Bookstore button.  Or,  search courses on the eCampus website. If you are eligible for a Financial Aid bookstore account, click here for instructions.

unchecked Your classes will share syllabus and other course information in Moodle. Online classes will also be hosted on Moodle. NOTE: courses will not appear in Moodle until the first day of class. 

unchecked  To borrow a laptop or other technology item, visit the GCC Library’s Technology Lending program. 

unchecked Make sure you understand your schedule and have set aside enough time to complete your coursework.  If you are in online classes with no meeting time, you should make sure you understand your weekly workload. This is an online tool for making a visual plan for your week.  Then, print the schedule if it is helpful on paper! 

unchecked Read through the Student Handbook and College Catalog so you understand GCC's policies and procedures as well as your rights and responsibilities.
