Since you reference the Aptheker article, I am curious to know what specific evidence is presented by the author to support the assertion that "Even during the war, the Union was particularly cruel to people of color." While this is true, an aim of our class is the improvement and exercise of critical thinking, reasoning, and analysis. To that end, it is important to get into the habit of including specific evidence to support any and all points that you make.
