Hello my name is Taurus Simpson. Its been a long time since I've been in school but I am eager to recall everything i once knew and learn some new information!

I think it is important to start with the war of 1812 and the resistance of the trade restrictions placed by the British post revolutionary war, which could be considered an act of revenge following the revolutionary war. It is important to note this because of the unity the country had at this time as it was now considered free from British rule. As we get to the Civil War there was an astounding 620,000 fatalities. "The 620,000 figure for fatalities is considered by some to be an undercount, based on 'crude approximations,' according to J. David Hacker, who puts the number 20% higher." So with a possible 20% unaccounted for due to the lack of technology and bookkeeping the decrease in population and a wound that couldn't be immediately healed (losing the war) by the confederates allows you to consider the implementation of new laws and regulations. Even more-so putting a close eye on the implementation of new labor laws and what that would look like post slavery. Money would of course be a necessity in this new America as it always is, and with the industrial north and agricultural south, it is important to think about how the alternative labor force would work without the use of slavery and the slowed production because of not only the ending of slavery but the death of over a half a million sons and fathers.
