Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I too feel the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Amendments hugely impacted our civil rights and politics. During the Reconstruction Era it was difficult to truly implement those changes because of the Supreme Court rulings, the Redeemers, and groups that violently retaliated against these changes. However, regardless, these amendments were critical steps in history that have shaped our future for the better in my opinion. This changed rights for many.
I also agree with you that these changes were not widely accepted by everyone. There was so much resistance and opposition from KKK groups and other violent extremists that were against these changes. I think it takes time for these sort of political and civil right changes to be accepted my most. Sometimes, regardless of the time that passes, it may still not be accepted by some. I think its vital to remember that regardless of the extreme violence or intimidation, activist continued to fight for these rights and changes in America. They too helped pave the way for many activists to fight for civil rights and make necessary changes in politics.
