Module Two Discussion, Initial Response Due Thursday, 2/6

Thank you for sharing. I am in agreement with you. I believe that groups like the KKK for glorified and the the North Republicans were portrayed negatively. The purpose of the the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments were to promote civil rights for newly freed slaves and to give them the rights they deserved in America. Winning the Civil War gave America an opportunity to figure out how to make this happen. However, because of such opposition from the South it was almost an impossible task during that time. White supremacist groups and the KKK used violence to intimidate and hinder the progress America was making. The Supreme Court did not fully support and help this change to happen with their ruling. This all made this time not as successful as one would hope
