You can request an incomplete grade when you are on track to pass a course, but are not able to complete the course requirements by the end of the class. Instructors can choose whether or not to approve an incomplete and can set a deadline for the incomplete work.

While you are completing any incomplete work we encourage you to utilize any GCC's student support resources. We have highlighted a few of the essential supports available to students working on incompletes here.

When an instructor enters an incomplete grade they will use the prefix I to indicate an incomplete is being offered, and then enter the grade you have earned so far. For example, if you have an IC it means you have an incomplete and if you submit no further work your final grade will be a C. 

You are have an incomplete you have until four weeks into the next semester  to get the work submitted and graded. This date is listed as the date by which incomplete grades convert in the academic calendar. Your instructor may set an earlier deadline by which the incomplete work must be turned in.

Please keep in mind, the placeholder grade is used to calculate your GPA, and to determine if you meet the prerequisites for upcoming classes. This means incompletes can lead to adjustments of academic standing, or administrative withdrawal from classes where prerequisites are not met.
