
Introduces the skills, techniques, principles and practices needed to perform as a surgical technologist in the operating room through both lecture and hands-on lab. This course includes surgical instrumentation and sterilization, as well as a detailed overview of the practices needed for preparing the operating room for surgical procedures. The course provides an introduction to preoperative techniques and documentation, including: surgical scrub, preparation of the operating room, creating the sterile field, gowning and gloving, patient positioning and transport, catheterization, skin prep, and patient draping.
