The Social Protest held in the 1960s were some major movements aimed towards changing and improving the way of life for some people. The very concept of this kind of protest can still be seen in modern movements today such as BLM just as an example. While both are majorly different in who they represent, they both aim to try to improve social equality for certain groups and aim to have changes made to do such. Other movements in the 1960s such as the anti war protests and the civil rights movement are just a couple more examples of this type of protest being used in order to make change for the better.
With that being said, the way that protests have functioned and throughout the modern days as social interactions and groups begin to become less and less common, the less likely people will be to go out and protest on the streets. The more common way in modern day is to spread messages of the movements on social media as it is much more likely to reach as much wider audience and is the much more common way of spreading information nowadays. The advantage of doing this over protesting in person is that it is likely to reach and influence more people and is not as intrusive or disruptive to the general public. Still though there have been many cases of people protesting and rallying to prove there point in modern day history and its likely that as long as people are able to walk on the street, they will likely also protest and do what they think is right.
