Understanding your GPA
Grade Point Average
Any time grades are added to your transcript or you receive a grade change your semester and cumulative grade point averages will be updated in MyGCC. These averages provide a general indication of your academic performance. A GPA of 2.00 or higher typically means you are receiving grades that put you on track to graduate.
When GCC calculates your GPA courses are weighted depending on how many credits they are. This means a 4-credit course will have a larger influence on your GPA than a 3-credit course. You can see how letter grades are converted to GPA values below. A GPA of 2.00 or higher is necessary to be in good academic standing. You can learn more about academic standing here.

| I | This prefix is used to indicate a student has an incomplete. Faculty will also enter a placeholder grade, for example IF or IC | Varies |
