1865 The reconstruction era

This is actually one of my favorite points in time. It was from 1865-1867. It was not my favorite for any other reason than the drastic changes it brought about in equality that had been due for quite some time. although what it took was very sad and tragic, it was necessary to allow the world to see what was just and right!
The world was just coming back from the civil war that divided our country. Slavery was on the docket of abolishment. The country was rebuilding itself and rejoining the union. There was hope after so very long that everything black and white had been promised and fought for. The problems that existed were said to be over, but they were just beginning. President Lincoln signed to abolish slavery but no one was onboard. The black people came home from the war like so many others, but with no where to live. They were not slaves anymore but they were fought every steps of the way to be anything but just that. They were not allowed to vote, or to own anything..
The Klu Klux Klan formed, not happy with being usurped. They were determined not to let black people have any rights at all. It was ok for them to fight the same war as long as when they came home they knew their place, which was less than a white person. White supremacy meant everything to them. A time when the North and South would not see eye to eye on slavery. The beginning of a battle that would go on for many years.
