Moodle at GCC: Guide to Setting Up You First Classroom
Completion requirements
This lesson takes you through the work of creating a Moodle classroom.
Begin Building Your Classroom
If you want to import the contents from another classroom you have permission to edit:
- Use the import function--Importing from courses created in Moodle 3.11 (before summer 2023) may introduce incompatibilities.
- Use the Sharing Cart block to individual items
Most content in Moodle (forum posts, pages, item descriptions, and other content) is created using "ATTO Text editor."
(this element was added using "Components for learning")
To build a classroom from "scratch," we suggest the following:
- To add Word or Powerpoint presentations, either:
- Upload it to Google Workspaces, set the sharing settings, then copy the URL into a "Page" created in Moodle
- Save it as a PDF, the add it as a "File" in Moodle or link to it in a "Page"
- To add a YouTube video, copy and paste the URL into a "Page" created with the "ATTO text editor." Directions are here.
- An "Assignment" is a drop box where students can upload files (we recommend students submit word processing and other files as PDF) and faculty can grade them:
- Moodle includes a range of question types that can be added to a "Quiz" that is completed on the LMS:
- Set up your Moodle "Gradebook:"
